About Jakes

Jake’s Lawn Care was established in 1988 by Jeff Kauffman, the company’s namesake being Jeff’s own son Jake. Jeff’s love for landscaping sprouted at a young age when his father taught him how to mow the family’s lawn, “I was about 7 or 8 years old, lining up the mower wheels and mowing straight lines was my main concern back then.” Jeff says.

 Jeff grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, graduated from Southwest High School in 1977, and had already begun gaining experience. Jeff worked for Ridglea Country Club throughout high school mowing greens and fairways under superintendent Garry Bearden. Jeff has also worked and been involved in many phases of construction over the years. Combining his grounds and construction experience enabled him to build a complete lawn and landscape company. Jeff says remembering the hard work, effort, and 10 to 13 hour days in the sweltering summer heat, have made him appreciate his company and what it took to get this far. He realizes how important of a key role his personnel plays in keeping things rolling and even reaching a higher plateau. Jeff says “This is a team effort, everyone here has been hand picked. They have all had their own business at one time or another and all know how to please a customer. This is why we are successful.” Jeff’s passions in life are his family, landscaping and golf! Jeff sits on the Board of Directors for the Texas Golden Gloves and is currently the President of the Southern Oaks Men’s Golf Association.
